I always keep Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation in my makeup bag. Its buildable coverage, and oh so dewy finish, make it a staple. I could rave on about it for ever, but instead I’ll do it in 700-ish word…
It is just as important to find the right base product for you as it is to discover your signature lipstick color or scent. This can change the look and durability of your makeup. It’s easier said than done. I have tried many foundation formulas that were less than flattering in my quest, but I am happy to say that I’ve finally found my favourite, and it’s right up there with the very best of the foundations.
Offering buildable coverage and that coveted lit-from-within-glow, here’s why Giorgio Armani’s Luminous Silk is worth every penny of its designer price tag…
What is it about this foundation which has me hooked? It’s not just the fact that this foundation is comparable to some of the best lightweight ones, but also its versatility and natural radiance that has me hooked.
I have a dry skin (especially during winter) and get oily in my T-zone. I prefer a natural look for my makeup, but the truth is that my skin isn’t always the clearest. Luminous Silk is the perfect solution.
Its formula offers medium coverage that can be built up, with a healthy glow. One pump is enough to cover my entire face. I apply it with my ring fingers or a sponge. My favourite is the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge. It leaves my skin looking dewy and fresh, but not shiny. It can also be used to blur imperfections. As mentioned, it can be layered for more coverage.
This foundation is available in 40 shades and contains glycerin. It offers a beautiful, hydrated glow, while also providing medium, buildable coverage. It is lightweight and works well with both cream and powder products. The woman&home beauty team loves it.
Its feel on the skin is also a major plus. It feels so light that I’ve been known to wear this in the heights of summer. It is not only beautiful, but it feels dewy and not claggy or drying like some foundations. I love this, especially in winter.
As you might have guessed, I love a glowy finish. I layer Luminous Silk on top of Charlotte Tilbury’s Hollywood Flawless Filter, which brings me back to the versatility of the former. I’ve worn Luminous Silk over many radiance boosters without experiencing any pilling or separation. It can be worn over the best facial sunscreens, under concealers and cream highlighters or blushes.
It’s a staple that you can wear all year round. It costs £46 but, in my opinion it is worth it. A little goes a very long way, especially if you like more subtle makeup.
This is a matter of personal preference, but I recommend applying a pump of foundation to the backs of your hands and applying it with a damp beauty brush, your fingers (for an extremely natural finish), or one of the top foundation brushes. All methods give a fresh and even look.
A tip I have is to layer it on top of a glow-boosting product, such as Glow Recipe’s Watermelon Dew Drops to intensify the radiance. I always set it in place with powder under my eyelids and along my T zone.
This Armani foundation is not for you if you prefer matte foundations. It’s designed to give a natural glow. If you want a full coverage product, Luminous silk is not for you. It can be built up, but it’s not recommended.
I would recommend this product to those with drier skin, or who want that “lit from within” radiance without blurring any redness or blemishes.
