Do you avoid bold lip colors because of the fear that their formulas may cling to your lips and highlight any dryness? Tatcha’s Kissu Lip Tints may be the answer for you.
When your lips feel and look dry, you don’t want to use a formula that feels heavy or bright. This is something that I can relate to as I dislike when lipsticks highlight chapped lips instead of masking them. Alternatives include nourishing balms, but you may have to sacrifice color or suffer stickiness. Tatcha’s new lip product is a multi-tasker that can do it all.
Kissu lippies are a combination of a balm, a tint and UV protection. They also protect your lips from drying out and provide UV protection. If that’s not enough to impress, let me tell you why I keep them in my handbag.
These lip tints come in pearlescent tubes that look and feel luxurious. The lids are embossed with a gold Tatcha logo, which, when removed, reveals more gold packaging.
They glide on smoothly, providing a creamy wash that can be built up for a bolder look, or blotted to create a chic stain effect. The balm-like moisturizing feel is still retained.
These creamy tints come in three flattering shades: Camellia, Midnight Lily, and Plum Blossom. They are a treatment and lipstick rolled into a stylish tube. The formula is lightweight, comfortable and offers buildable coverage. It also protects and nourishes your lips with SPF25.
The SPF 25 protection was another selling point for me, besides the colour range and creamy formula. We all know that we should protect our skin by using the best facial sunscreens and the best sunscreens for our skin, but our lips are often overlooked. Tatcha’s tints, while they are a great alternative to slathering on greasy sunscreen to protect your lips, have a similar wear and pigment to lipstick.
They come in three colours: Camellia (a pinky-red), Midnight Lily, (a deep berry), and Plum Blossom, (a terracotta). All of them have the perfect amount of shine.
I love ‘Camellia’, which I blot to create a blushy lip stain. I also find the formula hydrating. It doesn’t cling and it doesn’t collect in any dry areas. They are also glossy, but not sticky. This is the trade-off when choosing a tinted lip balm over a traditional lipstick. These glide on with a velvety, light feel and a slightly sour finish. This is what helps to keep the chap away. They don’t smell like lipsticks and aren’t perfumed either, which is something I really appreciate.
The only downside is the price. The price is a bit high for a lip product. They cost PS35 each. However, they provide UV protection, nourishment and tint.
These lip tints have a pretty straightforward application. You can swipe them on your lips just like a lipstick. Tatcha recommends that you apply liberally 15 minutes prior to sun exposure, and reapply it every two hours.
